Project 1-Application of Building Services
This project is related to the students’ studio design project in semester 2 or semester 3. We are expected to demonstrate our understanding of building services by proposing and designing the most appropriate systems for the building which include:
-cold water and hot water supply system
-electrical supply system
- sewerage and sanitary system
- drainage system
Therefore we are required to produce appropriate drawings and diagrams which include diagram, legend and some symbol to understand how the system work, also to describe the planning and installation of all the building services. Additionally, we may also include specific clauses from the Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL) or other relevant Acts, Laws or guidelines which relate to the proposed systems into their presentation boards.
Project 2:Case Study and Documentation of Building Services Systems
We are required to form a group of 6 students. Thus, I have grouped up with Tan Yew Siang, Ooi Chein Sheng, Tan Ree Han, Loh Yu Jin and Lee Zu Jin.
Based on the lecturer, each group is required to choose a building of maximum 5-storey high building which can be either public or commercial buildings (i.e. office blocks, institutional buildings, shopping malls, etc.). Each group is to perform a thorough study and analysis of the following services systems associated to the building:
- mechanical ventilation
- air-conditioning system
- fire protection system (active and passive fire protection system)
- mechanical transportation system
Also, each ground need to make a document about their finding ( each member were choose a topic to do research). The purpose of this assignment is to give a clearer picture of what the students will and have learnt in the classroom and to evaluate their understanding on the systems that they have observed. For me, it is a good experience that I can go to service room to study and understand the topic I choose ( air-condition system)
